Week 9 preview/pick | Manual at PRP | USA Today High School Sports

Crimsons have won past two meetings, including 43-0 last year

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Manual suffered its first loss of the season last week, falling to St. Xavier 27-6. Senior quarterback T.J. Comstock completed 19 of 34 passes for 162 yards and also rushed for a touchdown. The Crimsons were stymied by penalties all night, committing 14 for 98 yards. Manual can create a three-way tie atop Class 6-A, District Three with wins over PRP and Male next week and a St. Xavier loss.

* PRP snapped its three-game skid with a 35-18 victory at rival Butler last week. Daniel Parker rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, and Montae Robinson accounted for 91 yards (57 rushing, 34 receiving). Robinson has totaled 881 yards (670 rushing, 211 receiving) and 12 touchdowns (nine rushing, three receiving) this season.

Quotable: “You just hope when your time comes (with penalties) that they don’t devastate you and you can still get something done,” Manual coach Oliver Lucas said. “But every time we got something going last week, we’d turn around and take ourselves out of position to score. But take nothing from (St. X). Our kids didn’t focus well.”

The pick: Manual 24-14.
