Both teams clinched district titles last week

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Shelby County wrapped up the Class 4-A, District Four crown last week with a 44-0 whipping of rival Collins. Senior Malik Manica carried 17 times for 210 yards and three touchdowns as the Rockets beat Collins for the first time in six meetings. Manica has rushed for 1,136 yards and 12 TDs this season. Shelby County will host Breckinridge County next week in the first round of the Class 4-A playoffs.

* South Oldham won the Class 5-A, District Three title last week with a 39-7 victory at North Bullitt. Senior Shane Wilson carried 11 times for 81 yards, and sophomore Brandon Elsbury rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns on six attempts. The Dragons continue to be strong on defense, allowing just 9.9 points per game. South Oldham will host Southern in a Class 5-A playoff opener next week.

Quotable: “We’re approaching this like it’s a championship game,” South Oldham coach Jamie Reed said. “We want to finish the regular season 9-1, and I bet Shelby County wants to finish the regular season 9-1, too. I think both sides will give their best efforts, and hopefully both of us can stay injury-free and go into the playoffs strong.”
