Volleyball roundup: Millbrook, Rhinebeck win two apiece | USA Today High School Sports

Millbrook High School’s volleyball team hosted Rhinebeck, Highland and Onteora Monday, and the Blazers came out with two wins: one over the Huskies and the other over the Indians. Likewise, the Hawks emerged victorious over Highland and Onteora.

The Blazers swept Highland 25-7, 25-5, 25-9. Emily Kelly eight kills. Kayla Gusikoff had 21 assists and 19 aces, while Liz Halpin had six kills and three aces. Millbrook then toppled Onteora 25-8, 25-7, 25-12. Megan Fergus had nine kills and eight aces. Marisa Horton had seven kills, while Halpin had four kills and six aces.

“I think we did a really good job controlling the tempo with our serve,” said Millbrook coach Shawn Stoliker. “I’m really proud of our serve right now, it’s really disrupting other teams.”

Alicia Acosta had 19 service points (including four aces), 13 assists and four digs in Rhinebeck’s 25-6, 27-25, 25-9 win over Onteora. Mikaela Holt added nine service points and (four aces), six kills and five digs.

In the Hawks’ 25-7, 25-7, 25-7 sweep of Highland, Acosta added 27 service points (five aces) and 13 assists. Molly Greene (10 assists, five kills, one ace) and Megan Wiacek (three digs, three kills, one ace) chipped in.

Millbrook (9-1) hosts Rondout Valley Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.

Our Lady of Lourdes 3, Carmel 1 — Grace Rappleyea had eight kills while Ceara Giametta had 20 assists and 11 digs. Jessica D’Auria added five aces, 10 kills and eight digs while Rebecca Townes had five kills and 10 digs.

Lourdes (2-6) hosts Ossining Tuesday.

Ossining 3, John Jay 1 — Maddie Barberan had 13 kills and 19 digs as the Patriots fell 25-22, 26-24, 25-14, 27-25 on the road.

Kirsten Vier finished with 16 kills and 10 digs, while Robin Serica had two aces and six digs.

“Serica really stepped into her role in defense and played a really good game for us today,” said John Jay coach Maria Mahoney.

John Jay (7-4) visits Carmel at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Walter Panas 3, Beacon 0 — Irina Alekseeva had 14 kills and 10 assists for the host Bulldogs as they fell 25-21, 25-18, 25-11.Kajal Kolhi had five digs and eight service points, including three aces.

Beacon (5-3) hosts Hendrick Hudson at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Wallkill 3, Dover 0 — Tara Begor had five service points, six kills, one block and one dig, but visiting Wallkill won 25-17, 26-24, 25-20. Samantha Annunziata had one ace, three service points, two assists, two kills and 11 digs.

Dover (2-9) visits Webutuck at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
