We see great special teams plays somewhere in the country every week. It’s not every week that we see one of these, though.
Meet Payton O’Reilly. The Bozeman linebacker and tight end also lines up on the Montana squad’s special teams units, and he dominates wherever he is. His latest act of breakthrough dominance came on one of those special teams plays, where O’Reilly simply took things into his own hands.
In one fell swoop, O’Reilly blocked a field goal attempt, palmed it in his hand and sprinted 85 yards the other way for six Bozeman points.
Was it the best special teams play of the year? To be determined. It’s certainly on any short list.
