And now, the inevitable Nevada blowout cruise control phase of the Bishop Gorman season.
With the USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 top-ranked Gaels coming off a deceptively tight face off against Southern California power Servite, Bishop Gorman was given a crosstown reprieve against Shadow Ridge, a team that they have traditionally owned. Friday was no different, with Gorman rushing out to a 35-0 lead after the first quarter en route to a 70-7 whitewash.
Think Shadow Ridge could give Gorman any trouble? Maybe? Nah. Halftime was 49-0, and it went downhill from there.
The real question now is how Gorman will stay sharp for another two weeks against Las Vegas foes before another major threat comes calling. Traditionally New Jersey power Don Bosco comes calling a week before Halloween, and Tate Martell, Biaggio Ali-Walsh and company will have to be on their game to earn a victory.
Obviously, that wasn’t the case against Shadow Ridge.
