Soccer roundup: Burton leads Arlington B to win | USA Today High School Sports



Reed Burton had a goal and an assist and Preston Hill dished two assists to lead visiting Arlington B over Our Lady of Lourdes, 4-2, on Saturday.

Dillon Petrillo scored off a pass from Hill to give the Admirals a 3-0 lead with four minutes left in the first half. Nick Dunn and Mike Vanikiotis added a goal each and Andrew Markoe had an assist for Arlington B (7-3). Midfielder Connor Bruyn “dominated the outside midfield and helped control the action,” Admirals coach Erik Zeyher said.

Tony Kong and Garrett Ossolinski each scored for Lourdes.

Chris Dilello made four saves and Alex Cerrato had two stops for Arlington B, which visits Haldane at 4:30 p.m.  Monday.

John Jay 1, Fox Lane 1 — Kevin Turi scored early in the second half off an assist from Matt Howe for the visiting Patriots. John Jay had a 19 to five advantage in shots on goal, “but couldn’t find the back of the net to get the victory,” coach Rob Seipp said.

The Patriots (7-2-2) host Carmel at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Peekskill 2, Beacon 1 — Devin Lambe scored unassisted three minutes into the second half to tie the score at 1 before Beacon fell in overtime. Oswald Annang scored both goals for Peekskill, including the winner. Declan Costello made six saves for the Bulldogs (6-4), who visit Our Lady of Lourdes at 7 p.m. Monday.

“It was a difficult loss,” Beacon coach Craig Seaman said. “We had possession for the majority of the game, but we couldn’t put away our chances.”

Girls soccer

The Our Lady of Lourdes girls soccer team “played with lots of intensity and aggression,” according to Warriors coach Kara Sefcik, but the it still fell to host Mahopac 5-0 on Saturday.

Defenders Amy Zale, Marguerite McGahay, Kelly Keenan and Maddie Lynch played hard, Sefcik said. Lourdes (2-8) hosts Beacon at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
