The Rocky Mountain High School softball team notched a 7-1 victory in a crosstown matchup at Fossil Ridge High School on Saturday.
The Lobos jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning and added two more in the third before capping their win off with a three-run seventh frame.
Melanie Stajduhar led Rocky Mountain, going 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run, double and four RBIs. Haley Donaldson was the SaberCats’ leading hitter, going 2 for 3 with a solo home run for Fossil Ridge’s lone run.
Rocky Mountain’s Kelly Schueler picked up the win in the pitching circle, allowing five hits and recording one strikeout in her complete-game performance.
Saturday’s win was the Lobos’ second over the SaberCats this season.
Rocky Mountain improves to 13-4, 6-3 in Front Range League play while Fossil Ridge falls to 10-6-1, 5-4 FRL.
FORT COLLINS 12, GREELEY WEST 0 — The Lambkins extended their win streak to four games with a shutout at home.
Taylor White went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Autumn Anderson struck out nine batters, picking up the win in the pitching circle.
Fort Collins improves to 13-4, 7-2 FRL.
LOVELAND 10, POUDRE 0 — The Impalas were held scoreless and recorded just two hits in their loss at home to the Indians.
Loveland is ranked No. 5 in Class 5A in this week’s CHSAA poll. No individual statistics were reported.
Poudre falls to 4-13, 2-7 FRL.
SABERCAT INVITATIONAL — The Fossil Ridge boys won and its girls team was second in its home meet.
Keaton Schelir was the boys team’s top finisher, placing fourth overall in 16 minutes, 20.2 seconds. Teammate Kylan Ko finished two tenths of a second behind in fifth.
The girls team was led by Billie Fogarty, who finished 15th in 19:42.
The Fort Collins boys were fouth and Poudre finished fifth among 20 teams competing.
Cameron Dimas was the Lambkins’ top finisher in 16:11, placing third overall. Henry Raymond placed sixth in 16:28 to led the Poudre boys.
Poudre’s girls team was also fifth among the 14-team field and was led by Luna Slater, who placed third in 18:30.
Kyra Hanson led the Resurrection Christian girls in 28th place in 20:49. The Cougars’ boys finished 14th as a team and were led by Christian Fagerlin in 45th in 17:43.
Directly behind in 15th were the Liberty Common boys headed by Nathan Dowdy in 17:42, placing 44th.
Rocky Mountain’s girls finished 13th and its boys were 19th.
Natania Wright led the Lobos’ girls team in 22:25, placing 69th. Kyle Sorrell was the boys’ top finisher in 92nd in 19:05.
BROOMFIELD INVITATIONAL — Rocky Mountain placed third among 13 teams competing.
Autumn Bottke led the Lobos with third-place individual finishes in both the all around and beam events.
COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN 1, HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 0 — The Eagles were defeated on a goal in the 60th minute on the road.
Heritage Christian’s three-game win streak is snapped. The Eagles fall to 5-3 overall and remain 1-0 in Region 7 play.
