Khalan Laborn didn’t do his former teammates any favors Friday night, leading No. 8 Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.) to a 49-7 defeat of Cox (Virginia Beach).
Laborn, a junior who transferred this past spring from Cox, ran for touchdowns of 28, 37 and 50 yards to lead the Dolphins (9-0) to their 40th consecutive Beach District victory.
His first score put the Dolphins up 7-0 as he ran for 28 yards in the first quarter. His final two runs, of 37 and 50 yards, came on consecutive series and put Ocean Lakes up 28-7.
Tahj Capehart also had a touchdown for the Dolphins, converting a screen pass for a 67-yard reception. Dolphins quarterback Tyler DeSue threw a 40-yard pass to Tylan McElhenie for his team’s final touchdown. The other Ocean Lakes touchdown came when Jermaine Trotman recovered a Cox fumble in the end zone.
Cox (6-3) was playing without coach Bill Stachelski, who has been suspended for the remainder of the season. Cox’s only score was a 5-yard touchdown run by Matt DeMasi in the first quarter.
Ocean Lakes finishes its regular season next Friday when it plays host to Landsdowne (Virginia Beach).
