Rugby teams from across the region visited Knoxville on Saturday for the first annual Halloween 7’s Classic. The tournament was put on by Bearden Rugby as a fundraiser for the team
Clubs from Murfreesboro and Atlanta made the trip to East Tennessee to compete in Karns at the Tennessee Rugby Park. Ten high school squads and three middle school teams made up the field.
“It’s the greatest sport in the world,” said Bearden coach Ethan Rosenblum. “I grew up playing football and baseball and discovered rugby in high school. It’s the ultimate team game. Football is king here in America and I love it just as much as the next guy, but I’ve never played football since I’ve found this game. Rugby is the number one growing sport in the country right now and we’re starting to see it here in East Tennessee.”
