PPP chief who was supposed to hold a press conference could not make it to the stage
PESHAWAR: Instead of comforting, the visit of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari became a severe encumbrance to earthquake victims at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar, as party workers crowded the health facility chanting ‘Jeay Bhutto’ slogans.
This was Bilawal’s first visit to Peshawar. However, the visit to LRH and then the press conference at the residence of PPP provincial general secretary Humayun Khan, was marred with complete mismanagement.
Droves of PPP activists had rushed to have a glimpse of their leader creating chaos in the hospital, while the PPP leaders completely failed to control the workers and ensure discipline. Bilawal was accompanied by PPP vice president Senator Sherry Rahman, provincial president Khanzada Khan, former K-P minister Humayun Khan, former governor Masood Kausar, Farhatullah Babar and other local leaders.

It was after struggle by the local leaders that Chairman Bilawal was allowed to offer Fateha for the victims of earthquake. He said that “the earthquake-hit areas need our help and we have come here to help them in this difficult situation.”
Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah assured that relief supplies were on their way. “We are not doing politics on issues, but the federal government is not doing enough for the quake-hit people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.
