LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s candidate for Union Council-257 chairman Manzar Abbas Malik’s campaign centres around pollution and public health issues in the neighbourhood.
UC-257 consists of parts of Wapda Town, Sattukatla and Sattoki villages.
Malik says he has been going door-to-door to campaign on the impact of pollution on health.
He says a large drain passing through the area is causing hepatitis c. “The area will undergo a large scale transformation if I am elected chairman.”
He says street crime is another problem in the neighbourhood.
“My priority is to ensure a clean, liveable environment for residents,” he says.
The PTI’s candidate for chairman Malik Zameer Habib is campaigning on a similar platform. PTI workers say the government has ignored the area for many years and failed do its job.
They say a PTI-led local government would be a good change for residents of the area.
There are 25,000 registered voters in the UC. It includes Staff Colony PCSIR, Punjab Society, Engineer Town, WAPDA Town’s H-1, H-3, H-4, J-1, J-2, J-3, K-1, K-2, K-3 blocks, Valencia Town, NFC Housing Society and NESPAK Society.
