The Bishop Verot girls golf team finished its first day at the FHSAA Class A golf tournament at Mission Inn Resort and Club at Howey-in-the-Hills with a team score of 374, which put the Vikings in 12th place with one day of competition to go.

“Under the conditions we had to play this afternoon, I thought we played very, very well,” Vikings coach Ed Lockard said. “The girl shot through some tough conditions.”

Senior Hallianne Hobson led the Vikings with a 5-over 77, while senior teammate Lauren Lockard followed with a 14-over 86. Claire Sattler (100) and Caroline Snell (111) completed the scoring.

The Vikings reached the state golf tournament for the first time in school history following their Region A-6 second place performance.

Girls soccer

Canterbury 9, Moore Haven 1: Teyton Hornung grabbed four goals while Briana Jackson dished out two goals for the Cougars. Gina Arrigo, Kendall Flaharety and Aaliyah Jackson also contributed with a goal each.

North Fort Myers 0, Naples 0: No statistics available.

Clewiston 8, Port St. Lucie 0: Kelsey Allison and Selena Gonzalez had two goals a piece. Goaltender Ashley Roth grabbed her second shutout.

ECS 8, LaBelle 0: Seven different Sentinels scored in an 8-0 win over LaBelle. Kendra Baker and Kailey Berth netted their first goals for ECS.
