The minister was informed that so far over 1,500 cameras have been installed in different parts of the city
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday asked relevant authorities to complete the Islamabad Safe City Project by December this year, said a ministry official.
The project is already late and was supposed to be completed by this month (October).
A meeting, chaired by the minister, was conducted to review progress on the project on Wednesday.
The minister was informed that so far over 1,500 cameras have been installed in different parts of the city.
An official explained that under the project, a 2,009 square-metre bombproof command centre is being built, and all cameras would be connected through 500 kilometres of fiber optic cable, operated through a 4G network.
