The TSSAA girls soccer state tournament in Murfreesboro has been postponed one day because of soggy playing conditions.
The tournament was set to begin on Wednesday.
“Our staff just met with the grounds crew at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex to survey the condition of the fields following several days of heavy rain in the area,” TSSAA assistant executive director Matthew Gillespie said in an email to multiple media outlets. “For the safety of the athletes and the preservation of the fields for further use during the tournament, we have decided to postpone the start of the tournament by one day.”
Quarterfinal games scheduled in Class A/AA and Class AAA now will be played on Thursday at their originally scheduled time.
