Na-154 case: Cheats shouldn’t enter parliament: Justice Nisar

PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen, accused PML-N lawmaker of holding fake educational certificates

Supreme Court senior judge Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked that they do not want cheats to enter parliament. However, he clarified that the court should take extra care in determining whether or not any parliamentarian is a cheat.

Justice Nisar, heading a three-judge bench, remarked on Tuesday while hearing PML-N lawmaker Muhammad Siddique Khan Baloch’s case related to his disqualification from NA-154.

Siddique’s opponent, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary general Jahangir Tareen, accused him of holding fake educational certificates, which he denies.

The PML-N lawmaker had contested the 2013 general elections as an independent candidate but after the victory he joined the ruling party. He was disqualified for corrupt and illegal practices and holding fake degrees. The court directing Siddique to appear in person adjourned the hearing till Wednesday (today).
