The relevant authorities need to mobilise all resources to help the affected people
KASUR: The calamitous earthquake that jolted the length and breadth of Pakistan on October 26 is one of the worst natural disasters to have struck the country in recent times. The earthquake has caused havoc on a mammoth scale, with at least 228 people dead and destruction of property and infrastructure. Many who experienced the earthquake have described the tremors felt to be even bigger than the ones felt during the 2005 earthquake.
Though relief efforts have been launched by the government, and the military has been directed to carry out immediate rescue work as well in any affected areas without waiting for formal orders, there is still a lot that remains to be done. The relevant authorities need to mobilise all resources to help the affected people.
