Hate speech: Rangers send legal notice to MQM politician

Rangers have sent a legal notice to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s senior leader Waseem Akhtar for leveling false and baseless allegations against the paramilitary force during a television talk show.

According to a press statement issued by the Rangers on Monday night, the Rangers spokesperson said that in a talk show aired on September 29, Akhtar accused the Rangers of stealing hides of sacrificial animals on Eidul Azha and for involvement in extra-constitutional activities.

The spokesperson termed the MQM leader’s allegations an attempt to tarnish the image of the paramilitary force, and said that a legal notice was sent to Akhtar under Section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance 2002.

Earlier in the first week of October, two cases were registered against Akhtar at Sohrab Goth and Superhighway police stations by the citizens, for inciting public to violence and harming the national interests of the country.
