A star is among us! Though many of Bellarmine’s population know she plays volleyball, many do not know that Megan Jacobsen has committed to play volleyball at the University of San Diego.
This 6’1” wonder could not be more humble while talking about her accomplishments throughout her high school career. Jacobsen started playing volleyball as a freshman, playing for C team. She somewhat got the hang of the sport, worked hard all summer, and shocked the nation landing a varsity spot her sophomore year.
After her contribution to two WIAA 4A state titles, Jacobsen caught the eye of many collegiate recruiters. Though the college decision was tough for Jacobsen, she could not be happier with her decision to attend University of San Diego.
“I loved the coaches, the education is great, the team is very competitive and the work ethic there is similar to Bellarmine’s. And I mean, who doesn’t love San Diego?” Jacobsen stated when asked how she decided to join the Torero squad.
Her Dadager (Dad-manager) Brett could not always picture Jacobsen playing Division I volleyball. “I wanted her to stick to basketball, but once I realized how great of a sport volleyball is and how much she enjoyed playing, I saw that the idea of playing in college was promising.”
Though her journey will be amazing to follow, her mother will be sad to see her go, “Megan is always a bright smiling face in both rain or shine. Her presence on Bellarmine’s home court is going to be greatly missed by her teammates and coaches just as her presence at home will be greatly missed by both her father and me,” mom Patti stated
