Prep roundup: Olivet places second at GLAC Tournament | USA Today High School Sports

Olivet finished second overall at the GLAC League Tournament on Saturday.

The Eagles beat Leslie (25-5, 25-8, 25-11) and Lansing Christian (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) on their way to the finals, but eventually lost to Lakewood (16-25, 8-25, 6-25) and became the runners-up.

Bailey Hofman led the Eagles in kills with 20, followed by Mikayla Wickham with 15.

Loren Westlake contributed 30 digs, Taylor Holmes had 42 assists and six aces, and Sydney Weeks had 19 digs and five aces.

MATTAWAN INVITE: St. Philip won its first game of the day against Portage Northern (25-18, 25-22), but then lost its next three. The Fighting Tigers fell to Okemos and Mattawan in pool play, then were knocked out of the tournament by Hudsonville by scores of 25-21, 15-25, 7-15. Statistically, Abby McKenzie had 46 kills and 23 digs; Taylor Pessetti had 81 assists; McKenna Haley had 38 digs; and Kameron Haley had 26 digs and 16 kills.

Lakeview was also at the Mattawan Invitational and played in several close games, but picked up just one win on the day. The Spartans lost to South Christian (22-25, 29-31), Rockford (17-25, 17-25) and Troy (25-22, 20-25, 8-15). In the consolation bracket, Lakeview beat Portage Northern (28-26, 27-17), but then lost to Gull Lake (24-26, 24-26). Rose Tecumseh led the Spartans in kills with 47, while Sidney Schiller had 34 kills and 16 blocks. Aiden Baum recorded 45 digs and seven aces; Samantha Vosburg had 39 digs; and Emma Morey and Emily Eldridge led the team in assists with 58 and 42, respectively.

WILLIAMSTON INVITE: Marshall lost in the quarterfinals in a hard fought match with Bronson, 23-25, 13-25. Earlier in the day, the Redhawks beat Coleman (25-18, 25-19) and Williamston (25-18, 25-17). Statistically for Marshall, Emily Delmotte had 22 kills and 23 digs; Kaylie Bates had 51 assists and six aces; and Chloe Webber added five blocks.

LENAWEE CHRISTIAN TOURNAMENT: In pool play, Homer beat Madison (23-25, 25-22, 25-18) and Manchester (24-26, 25-15, 25-20) and was seeded third overall in the bracket play. Unfortunately, a rematch with Madison in the quarterfinals went against the Trojans, who fell by scores of 18-25 and 22-15. Leading the Trojans were Tyme Warner with 18 kills and six blocks; Jill Sitekiewicz with 17 kills and 11 blocks; Megan George with 11 kills and eight blocks; Brianna Mohn with 46 assists and five blocks; and Courteney Willson with 23 kills.
