Reno junior McKenna LeVitt beat Palo Verde’s Kristen Newell 7-5, 6-3, in the third-place match Saturday at the Nevada state tennis tournament at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas.
In the semifinals earlier Saturday morning, Angelique Friedrich of Bishop Gorman, beat LeVitt, 6-1, 6-0. Friedrich, a freshman, went on to win the state title by beating her teammate Amber Del Rosario 6-3, 6-4.
In Division I boys singles, Dylan Levitt from Palo Verde won the championship, beating Aaron Bailey from Bishop Gorman, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
Reno’s doubles team of Ian Rinehart and Riley Boyden lost in the third-place match, 6-4, 6-4, to Mike Safbrom and Brandon Sulzberg of Palo Verde. Sam Grant and Ryland McDermott of Coronado won the title.
Chloe Hendersona and Sophie Henderson of Palo Verde won the girls Division I doubles title.
In the I-A boys singles, Michael Pasimio from Clark beat Zach haas from Truckee, 6-2, 6-2, to win the championship.
In I-A boys doubles, Kevin Cross and Colin Deurlington from Truckee, won the third-place match, beating Louis Marin and Mickey Sullivan from South Tahoe, 6-5, 4-6, 6-4.
In the I-A girls singles, Andrada Stanciu, from Sierra Vista, beat Madison Foley from Faith Lutheran 6-1, 6-1, in the final.
In I-A girls doubles, Ava Frazier and Olivia Waysack from The Meadows won the championship. Izzy Martinez and Paige Thorne from Fallon lost in the third-place match.
