A Lompoc (Calif.) volleyball player hoping to amp up her teammates with a sweet treat at a team dinner the night before a rivalry match ended up missing the game because her cake was a little too salty.
According to a report out of California’s central coast, an unnamed player was suspended for Lompoc’s match against crosstown foe Cabrillo (Lompoc, Calif.) on Thursday after her cake with the message “F*** Cabrillo” written on it was posted to social media.
Lompoc principal Paul Bommersbach would not discuss details of the suspension with the news channel, but said action was taken to highlight the importance of “outstanding moral and ethical behavior in the classrooms and on the playing fields.”
The off-court bitterness did not spill onto the floor during Cabrillo’s 3-0 win, as the two teams actually united to raise money for the fight against cancer as part of their second annual tie-dye game. Both teams wore tie-dye uniforms and there was a fundraiser with all proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society.
