STAUNTON – In a key Valley District matchup, Harrisonburg gave Lee almost all they could handle Thursday.
The Lee Ladies fought to pull out a long first set 31-29 before the Blue Streaks got one back 25-20. Lee settled in for the third set 25-15, and then prevailed in the final set 26-24 to close out the match.
Jennifer Williams led a well-rounded effort with 14 kills, 19 digs, and four blocks. Alyx Steitz also had 14 kills, and six blocks. Kable Rizzo had seven kills, and Meghan Wood had six kills to go with a team-high 23 digs.
Helping the team also were Lindsey Bosserman with 19 digs and Amber Johnson’s 14 digs and 22 assists. Camryn Shull had 16 digs and added 21 assists.
Lee won in the JV game as well in straight sets 25-17 and 25-19.
Lee will take an 11-7 mark to Fort Defiance on Tuesday in another important matchup.
