Farmington Hills Harrison defensive end Khalid Kareem, who decommitted from Alabama last week, today announced his commitment to Notre Dame.
“Thank you to all the colleges that recruited me and the schools that over looked me,” Kareem wrote on Twitter. “As a early enrollment student/athlete, the combination of great academics and great football is most important to my family & I. I’m 100% committed to further my education and play college football at the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish.”
Kareem is considered a four-star recruit and ranked No. 9 in the state by rivals.com.
Kareem had scholarship offers to Michigan and Michigan State before choosing Alabama in June . In fact, he once reportedly was close to verbally committing to MSU . Verbal commitments are nonbinding until national letters of intent are signed in February.
Kareem is staying closer to home so that his mother, Phillicia, will be able to see him play, his dad, Ken Kareem, told the Free Press last week.
