Another high school football player has died after being injured during a game, bringing this year’s number of football-related deaths to seven.
Bogan (Chicago) High School’s Andre Smith, 17, was immediately taken to the hospital at 6 p.m. Thursday night after sustaining an injury in a game against Chicago Vocational High School, according to Chicago’s ABC7.
There is no word yet on how Smith was injured or what caused his death. Smith passed away early Friday morning.
The news comes just six days after Texas teen Cam’ron Matthews passed away after collapsing on the field.
