Last week was satisfactory for me in #BeatBrian, but expect a little more flare from me this Friday night.
I went 6-2 last Friday and six of 73 contestants beat me.
I’ve whipped up my picks for this week and might have even mixed in an upset or two.
Tonight the competition involves seven games, with a few match ups slating two heavyweights together.
In 6A, Niceville will head to Pine Forest while Tate will head to Choctaw, creating some Escambia-Okaloosa rivalry which we may see again in the postseason.
There are a few other head-scratchers in addition to those two games this week, so hopefully #BeatBrian participants were delicate with their selections.
If you didn’t sign up to play this week, head to http://www.PNJ.com/BeatBrian to sign up for Week 10.
That’s right, after Friday there are only two weeks left of the regular season and that means only two more chances to #BeatBrian.
Now, let’s get down to picking:
Niceville at Pine Forest: One thing is for sure, the Eagles will win this one. Now, whether it’s the Niceville Eagles or the Pine Forest Eagles … that is a bit tougher to answer. I believe all-around, Pine Forest is more athletic. But, Pine Forest will have to contain one of the top recruits in the state of Florida.

Tate at Choctaw: Tate hits the road for their toughest-away game of this season. I think the Aggies are starting to peak as a team and their experience will show this Friday.

Washington at Catholic: The Crusaders are injury-riddle after last Friday’s district game. Washington has been putting up points this year, but the Wildcats still seek their first win. I think this is the week they get it.

West Florida at Arnold: I think Arnold QB Cody Saunders (West Virginia commit) will run into the toughest defense he’s faced all season this Friday night. If the Jags’ can get some good hits in and force some turnovers, look for West Florida to keep climbing the District 1-5A standings.

Mosley at PHS: The Tigers need a win more than anyone this week. I think things will click for PHS this week under the extreme pressure of District 1-5A.

Northview at Walton: Northview has got to be fired up after a shutout win over district rival Jay. But I don’t think that momentum will be enough to hand Walton its first loss.

Jay at Rocky Bayou Christian: Last year, this game was decided by three points in favor of Jay. I predict a close game this year, but I think Rocky Bayou Christian gets some revenge this year.
