TRINITY (8-1) AT BALLARD (5-3)
Winner clinches Class 6-A, District Four crown
Kickoff: 7 p.m.
* Trinity – No. 4 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings – enters with a five-game winning streak after whipping Seneca 42-0 last week. Senior quarterback Jacob Woosley passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another. Trinity’s defense has been stout during the winning streak, allowing just 4.4 points per game. Senior linebacker Damon Lowe leads the Shamrocks with 41 tackles (39 solo), including 18 ½ tackles for loss.
* Ballard has won three in a row after a 43-7 rout of Jeffersontown last week. Senior running back David Daniels rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. This will mark the first Ballard-Trinity meeting since October of 2010, when the Shamrocks won 56-21. Ballard’s last victory over Trinity, a 14-12 contest, came in 1995.
Quotable: “We knew coming into the season we’d have a little more experience in our secondary,” Trinity coach Bob Beatty said of his defense. “I didn’t say they’d be good, but they had more experience and that has shown up. And the younger guys up front have matured.”
The pick: Trinity 37-13.
