Prep roundup: HC volleyball downs Coldwater | USA Today High School Sports

The Class B No. 4 ranked Harper Creek volleyball team took care of the Coldwater in three sets in the Interstate Eight matchup, 25-17, 25-15, 25-10.

The Beavers (42-4-2) were led by Charley Andrews with 10 kills and Olivia Leson with eight kills and 10 digs.

Also for Harper Creek, Kim Kusler contributed with seven kills and four digs, while Jess Cadena tallied seven kills, and Katie Wade recorded 35 assists.

GULL LAKE 3, LAKEVIEW 0: The Blue Devils swept the Spartans in three close sets, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20. For Gull Lake, Kenzy Corstange had 12 kills and 10 digs, Logan Sommerfeld had 22 digs, Lauren Esman had 10 digs, and Mackenzie Belz had 19 assists. In the loss for Lakeview (23-23), Rose Tecumseh had 13 kills; Kayla Callaway had 12 digs; and Emma Morey had 27 assists and 11 digs.

MARSHALL 3, JACKSON NORTHWEST 0: The Class B Honorable Mention Redhawks won in three sets on Wednesday night over the Mounties, 25-12, 25-15, 25-13. Statistically for Marshall, Mackenzie Benham led with seven kills, while Audrey Myers had five aces and four digs, Nikki Tucker had four blocks, and Kaylie Bates had 18 assists.

LOY NORRIX 3, (at) B.C. CENTRAL 0: The Bearcats hosted Loy Norrix for ‘Dig Pink’ night, but fell in three sets, 9-25, 12-25, 17-25. For Battle Creek Central, Logan Jackson had two aces and two kills; Jamesha Smith had three kills and a block; Mya Trevino had three kills; and Eirion Traylor had eight assists. All proceeds from their first ‘Dig Pink’ event are sent to the Bronson Cancer Center.

BRONSON VIKINGS: Bronson improved to 45-9-2 with two wins in Wednesday night’s quad meet. The Vikings beat Comstock (25-10, 25-7, 25-15) and Berrien Springs (25-14, 25-7, 25-10) in their two matches. For Bronson, Alexa Ratkowski had nine aces, 58 assists, and 11 digs; Allison Sikorski had 12 kills and 15 digs; Jill Pyles had nine aces and 12 kills; Adyson Lasky had eight aces and 12 digs; and Kiera Lasky had 13 aces and 23 digs.

QUINCY 3, HOMER 0 (TUE.): The Orioles swept the Trojans in three sets, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21. For Quincy, Mackenzie Moore had 12 kills and 11 digs; Ali Silva had 13 assists; Riley Rakocy had seven kills; and Cailyn Cook had six digs. For Homer, Courtney Wilson had eight kills; Megan George had six kills; and Brianna Mohn had 17 assists and four blocks.

UNION CITY 3, READING 0 (TUE.): On their “Dig Pink” night and Parents Night, the Lady Chargers hosted and defeated Reading, 25-11, 25-11, 25-15. For Union City (14-15-7), Haley McIntosh had 11 kills; Cassie Thorpe had 19 assists; and Haley Harty, Lauren Dibert and Rachel Wing each had five kills.

JONESVILLE 3, (at) ATHENS 2 (TUE.): In a close game, the Indians lost in five sets, 25-27, 25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 13-15. Leading Athens statistically was Josie Lamson with 32 assists and 11 digs; Tayler Eutsey with 16 kills and 22 digs; Aubrey Cole with 21 digs; and Rachel Nobach with 15 digs.
