The IndyStar is proud to announce the 2015 All-State team in association with the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association:
• Player of the Year: ALEXIS MIESTOWSKI, Lake Central
Miestowski was the individual medalist for 19-of-21 events, including shooting 145 to win the state championship by six strokes. Her final scoring average for 18 holes was 69.4. Miestowski was also the MVP of the Duneland Athletic Conference and a member of the Post Tribune All-Area team.
CAILYN HENDERSON, Westfield
Henderson won several tournaments and finished the season averaging a 70. According to coach Tevor Neu, Henderson has one of the best work ethics he has ever seen. She finished 10th in the state meet, leading the Shamrocks to a second-place finish.
KAYLA BENGE, Plainfield
Benge won four invitationals this year, was runner-up twice and never placed out of the top 10. She was the Mid-State Conference, Hendricks County and sectional champion. She finished with a scoring average of 74.4 and tied for eighth in the state meet.
CHERISE OTTER, Bloomington South
Senior, South Florida
Otter has been the face of Bloomington South golf for the last four years and was named the Mental Attitude Award after finishing tied for second in the state meet with 151.
MORGAN BROWN, Lafayette Central Catholic
Brown is a four-time state finalist as an individual and two-time member of the All-State team. Brown is also a three-time individual Hoosier Conference Champion. She finished the state finals in sixth place with a 156.
EMMA KIEFFER, Evansville North
Kieffer is the ultimate leader on Evansville North’s two-time state champions, according to her coach. She is a two-time all-state performer, finished with a scoring average of 72.7 and was fourth in the state meet with a 153.
CASSIDY JURKAITES, Penn
Senior; Western Illinois
Jurkaites was a three-time state qualifier, is making state for the second time and was a sectional and regional champion.
EMMA FISHER, Bloomington South
According to her coach, Fisher had a tremendous year with a lot of growth. She finished seventh in the state meet, shooting a 157.
MARISSA SINGER, Guerin Catholic
Senior, University of St. Francis
Singer was the individual medalist in four of her nine 18-hole tournaments with a stroke average of 74.3. She also won individual medalist honors in four of the team’s nine 9-hole matches.
SHELLY SHAFER, Hagerstown
Shafer was undefeated in dual meets. She won the Richmond Invitational, Wayne County tournament and the Tri-Eastern Conference for the second year in a row. She was the first girls sectional champion in school history.
MORGAN LEWIS, Fishers
Lewis began her trip to the state finals by placing second in sectionals, then finished second in regionals and 21st in the finals. She recorded the first hole in one in the 43-year history of the state championship; it was also the first of her career.
LINNZIE RICHNER, NorthWood
Richner is a two-time state finalist, a four-time regional qualifier and a three-time All-Northern Lakes Conference First Team Member. Her season scoring average of 79.8 ranks in the top 5 of school history.
HADLEY WALTS, Evansville North
Walts was the other driving force behind Evansville North’s two-time state champions with Kieffer. She closed out her state finish with three birdies and one par to tie for second with a 151. She finished the season with a scoring average of 73.7.
BROOKE MOSER, Leo
Moser won the Leo Invitational for her squad. She was second at the Northeast 8 Conference and made the All-Conference team.
GRACE DAVIS, Chesterton
Davis made the All-Duneland Athletic Conference team. Her season stroke average was 39.7 on nine holes and 76.8 on 18 holes.
KIERSTIN MURPHY, Carroll
Murphy had a successful year with a 18-hole average of 78. She led her team on the course and by showing character through her positive attitude on and off the course.
LAUREN READ, Culver Girl’s Academy
Senior, University of Saint Francis
Read shot 35 on Sept. 17, against Rochester and Tippecanoe Valley. She was team captain and led the team with lowest stroke average of 79.3.
CAITIE GELHAUSEN, Hamilton Heights
Gelhausen was named medalist in 5-of-6 two-way matches and all five of the three-way matches. She broke the Hamilton Heights school record for an 18-hole round with a 68.
REECE MALAPIT, Yorktown
Malapit finished tied for eighth in the state meet with a 158.
KILEY SWISHER, Seeger
Swisher finished fifth in the state meet at 155. Swisher has made it to the State Finals three times throughout her high school career.
