Lenovo Announces Its Flagship Yoga 900 Convertible Laptop :

Lenovo has arguably the most experience making convertible devices and the latest one proves that prowess. The latest 13.3″ Yoga 900 is said to be the thinnest convertible in the world with an Intel Core “i” processor and can be used in “laptop”, “tablet”, “tent” and “stand” modes.

The 13.3″ touch-enabled display comes with an impressive 3200 x 1800 resolution (276 ppi) with 300-nits brightness. The hybrid is also reasonably thin and light at 14.99mm and 1.29kg starting point. The hinge is also made tighter so there is no creaking and it’s durable since it’s tested for 25000 open-close cycles. The entire laptop is made of 812 pieces of aluminum and steel.

A big upgrade is the move to 6th-gen Intel Skylake processors from Core M, up to  16 GB DDR3 RAM and up to 512 GB Samsung SSD. Connectivity is covered with USB Type-C with video-out, Bluetooth 4.0, 2×2 Wi-Fi ac, 2 USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. It comes with Windows 10 Home.

JBL speakers and a 1 mp CMOS webcam are found as well. Battery life is rated as being worth 10 hours of browsing at 200-nits brightness, or 9 hours of video playback, 50 percent higher than before. It will be available in three colours: Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Clementine Orange.

Being a flagship, the pricing is set according, with a $1199 starting point for a Core i5 model with 256 GB SSD. (Add $100 for Core i7 and another hundred for Core i7 with 512 GB SSD.) No options for any other form of storage are given. Sure the Yoga 900 is no Surface but it is exciting in its own right for a price that is several times lower.
