Boys Cross Country
Seton Catholic’s Jacob Stamm finished first in the event with a time of 16:00.7 and beat Greenfield Central’s Zachariah Bishop by three seconds. Greenfield Central beat Franklin Central by only two points as the Cougars scored 48 points to the Flashes’ 50.
The Franklin boys cross country team finished first in regionals with all of their runners placing in the top 25. Oldenburg Academy’s Curt Eckstein finished first, finishing the race in exactly 15 minutes.
Ben Davis Regional
Brownsburg’s Hariharan Sathyamurthy ran a first place time of 15:25 in the regional round with the second place runner finishing 20 seconds behind him. With six runners finishing in the top 15, Avon won the event by 21 points over second-place Zionsville.
All seven of the Fishers runners finished in the top 30 to give the Tigers a 15-point first place finish over Carmel. Westfield’s Alec Hartman finished first, edging out Brebeuf’s David Coffey by three seconds.
Pendleton Heights edged out Mt. Vernon by five points to earn the first place finish. Mt. Vernon’s Christian Noble finished first with a time of 14:55.
Girls Cross Country
Franklin Central advanced to the semi-state round with a dominating first place finish. The Flashes had five runners place in the top 15 and scored 28 points. Warren Central’s Jamie Wells finished in first place with a time of 18:49.
Center Grove continued a strong run as the Trojans placed first yet again after scoring 44 points. The Trojans had seven runners place in the top 20. Greenwood Christian Academy’s Alexandra Dalton had another strong run, finishing first in the race with a time of 18:24.
Zionsville had four runners place in the top ten including three runners who finished third, fourth and fifth. The Eagles scored 28 points and held a comfortable lead over second place Avon — the Orioles scored 75. Avon’s Taylor Nicholson finished first in the event with a time of 17:46.
Carmel’s run at a state championship continued as the nationally-ranked Greyhounds came away with a first place finish in the regional round. Sarah Leinheiser of Carmel ran the fastest time of the event with a 17:24.6.
Pendleton Heights controlled the Delta regional, scoring 16 points while every other team scored over 100. Alex Buck of Pendleton Heights finished first with a time of 17:24.
