Sardar Khan Chandio and Nadir Magsi have been disputing over the slot of Qamber-Shahdadkot chairman
SUKKUR: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership is trying to resolve the differences among party leaders of Larkana division, especially those belonging to Qamber-Shahdadkot district. Leaders, however, seem to prefer ego over the interests of the party.
On Saturday night, a meeting jointly chaired by PPP MNA Faryal Talpur and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was held in Naudero House to resolve differences among the party leaders ahead of the upcoming local government elections. A state of cold war has been prevailing between MPAs Sardar Khan Chandio and Nadir Magsi over the slot of chairman of the Qamber-Shahdadkot district council. As both of them are adamant on getting their own candidate selected for the slot, it has become difficult for the party to resolve the matter.
Sources privy to the development claimed that the arch-rivals presented their points of view during the meeting. Nadir told the leaders that most of the eligible candidates recommended by him were not given party tickets and thus they are contesting elections as independent candidates. However, Nadir expressed his loyalty towards the party. Similarly, Sardar said that he is with the party. However, he added that those who are contesting elections as independent candidates have been requested to withdraw their candidature. “In case they fail to do so, we will fight the elections against them,” he said.

According to sources, Sardar wants to get the party ticket for his brother, Burhan Chandio, for the slot of district council chairman while Nadir wants to field Mithal Mugheri for the elections. Neither MPA is ready to budge an inch from their demand and have, therefore, fielded their own candidates against the PPP candidates in different areas, including Naseerabad, Warah, Qamber and Shahdadkot. Sources claimed that MNA Talpur tried her best to bring both of them to terms, but failed as both left the venue.
Similarly, differences have also been prevailing between Gul Mohammad Jakhrani and Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani in Kandhkot-Kashmore and between Sardar Wahid Bux Bhayo and Babul Bhayo in Shikarpur. According to sources, party leaders have asked them to shun their differences and support PPP candidates in the upcoming local government elections, but it seems that nothing is working as these leaders are not ready to forgo their differences.
In Sukkur, there were differences between the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, and Senator Islamuddin Shaikh. However, the two held a joint press conference 15 days ago and announced that they had no differences between them. Sources claimed that the two had entered an agreement, according to which, Khursheed Shah’s son, Farukh Shah, was fielded for the slot of Sukkur district council chairman and Islamuddin’s son, Arsalan Shaikh, was fielded for the slot of Sukkur Municipal Corporation mayor. Both of them have been elected unopposed.
