Vance Jackson, ranked among the top 10 small forwards in the Class of 2016, committed to the University of Connecticut on Friday night.
The 6-7 Jackson, who attends Prolic Prep in California, is ranked No. 49 by ESPN and is considered a four-star prospect. Among the schools that had been the most aggressively recruiting him were Maryland, Memphis, Cal and USC.
Jackson spent last year at St. John Bosco in Bellflower and had intended to transfer to Mater Dei before landing at Prolific Prep, which features Josh Jackson, considered a top 3 player in the Class of 2016.
He is another strong addition in the Class of 2016 for coach Kevin Ollie. UConn has commitments from four-star recruits Alterique Gilbert and Juwan Durham and three-star power forward Mamadou Diarra.
