The final day of the fall golf and tennis seasons culminated Saturday at various locations around the state.
As always, the Blue Water Area was well represented.
At the Division 1 state finals in Midland, Chris Adams of Port Huron Northern was the final local player alive. He bowed out in the state semifinal round at No. 2 singles, but his performance helped the Huskies finish ninth overall in the state with eight points.
Adams fell to Andrew Abela of Brother Rice, 6-4, 6-1.
“Our entire team played terrific at states this year,” Northern coach Char Sweeney said. “It can be very intimidating and the boys handled it well.”
At the Division 3 state tennis finals in Holland, St. Clair High School finished tied for seventh place overall with nine points.
In golf, the Blue Water Area was well represented at the Division 3 event at Forest Akers West at Michigan State University.
Kara Likins of St. Clair shot a 97 for a two day total of 187 and Gabriella Locke shot 97 for a two day total of 204. They each finished well short of all-state, top 10 honors.
Meanwhile at the Division 4 event at Forest Akers East, Kaitlyn Rittner who is from Algonac but attends Macomb Lutheran North finished 10th overall. She shot 86 Saturday for a two day total of 171.
Emma Kerr of Capac was also at the event, but finished out of the top 10 with a two day total of 187.
