CSN rebounds with 46-6 victory over ECS | USA Today High School Sports



A week after suffering their first defeat of the season to First Baptist, Community School of Naples responded in a big way defeating Evangelical Christian 46-6 Friday night.

Joe Lang, Henderson Francois and George Schmelzle each accounted for two touchdowns for the Seahawks, while quarterback Cooper Weiss threw for two touchdowns and hit on all five of his pass attempts for 168 yards.

“We came out a little flat tonight, but once the ball started rolling for us we played with a lot of enthusiasm and we were relentless. I’m proud with how our guys rebounded tonight.” head coach Paul Selvidio said.

Lang’s 5-yard touchdown run near the end of the first quarter opened the scoring for the Seahawks (6-1, 3-1). Schmelzle’s two scores in a span of 2:14; a 50-yard touchdown catch from Weiss and a 6-yard touchdown run, made it a 26-0 lead at halftime.

Francois had bookend touchdowns to open and close the second half, with an 86-yard kickoff return and a 39-yard run down the left sideline on the final play of the game.

Chris Ceasar had an solid night on the ground for the Sentinels (2-5, 1-3) amounting 175 yards on 29 carries, scoring the lone touchdown on the night for Evangelical Christian.
