The ‘bijli’ monster – The Express Tribune

According to a resident, electricity is deliberately shut off by the local area ‘bijli gangster’ every night

KARACHI: The residents of Block 10, Qalandarabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi, have been inconvenienced by K-Electric due to the shortfall of electricity. One resident has told me that the electricity is deliberately shut off by the local area ‘bijli gangster’ every night. Such people use their authority of access to the local electricity controls for self-interest by collecting funds every month from the residents of the particular area. In turn, the residents secure electricity supply to their homes. My neighbour, and many other residents, worry because their children are unable to sleep peacefully at night due to the shortfall.

The residents of my area appeal to the government and to K-Electric to look into the activities of these gangsters and provide us with electricity on a daily basis by installing a meter in every home.
