Congratulations to Holy Trinity Episcopal football player Jashaun Corbin, FLORIDA TODAY’s high school Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11.
Corbin ran for 259 yards and five touchdowns to lead Holy Trinity past Agape Christian 44-28. Corbin also has a big role on defense, and he had a key interception in the third quarter that led to his fourth offensive touchdown on the night. The speedy sophomore entered the contest leading Brevard rushers with 785 yards, and now he’s over 1,000 for the season. He scored in every quarter on TD runs of 27, 2, 1, 39 and 40 yards.
Corbin collected 44 percent of the online vote out of five athletes represented. More than 800 votes were received.
Second place was Covenant Christian volleyball player Emily Hoenigmann (31 percent), followed by Cocoa Beach swimmer Dain Rust (12 percent), Viera High golfer Calvin Sierota (9 percent) and Merritt Island High swimmer Dani Keymont (4 percent).
Be sure to vote this upcoming Monday for the next Athlete of the Week.
