Brandon Jones used the word “surprised” to explain his feelings about being selected to the Under Armour All-America Game, but he shouldn’t be.
Jones, from Nacogdoches, Texas, is ranked as the No. 1 safety in the nation by ESPN and the No. 27 player in the nation overall.
“When I first found out I was selected to play in this game I was so surprised, but then again very thankful I was getting this opportunity,” Jones said as the Selection Tour presented by American Family Insurance came to his school. “I think about it all the time and it still blows my mind to know I’ve been chosen to play in this game. It’s a true honor.”

Jones has more than 40 scholarship offers. His lone scheduled official visit to this point is to Ole Miss in late November.
Jones lost his father to cancer when he was in seventh grade, but the safety knows his dad is with him in spirit.
“I wish he was here throughout this process and he could be in Orlando and watch me play,” Jones told news reporters at the event. “But I know he is up there and smiling down on me.”
