There is new found hope for the CV Boys soccer team. The idea of a playoff berth is quickly becoming a reality. The boys just snatched a 3-2 victory out from under the feet of the current section leaders, the 6-2 Canon McMillian Big Macs. With this big win the Colts’ record improves to 4-4, an impressive record compared to past performances in the last few years. The playoff hope may be slim, but it’s still a chance. The boys have to rely on either Canon Mac or Peters losing their next two games. Both are possible realities. Canon Mac will play against Moon whom they beat 3-1 the first meeting. Peters will play the defending section champions Upper Saint Clair. USC came out on top at their last meeting 1-0. But before the boys put their hope in the hands of another team, they have to win their two next games against Brashear today and Moon on Tuesday respectively. The first meeting of CV and Brashear this year ended in a decisive 3-0 victory for the away Colts. The first meeting between the Colts and the Moon Township Tigers, all the way during week 10 of the season, ended in a 1-0 victory for Chartiers Valley. Starting junior defender Jack Barlow reflects, “It was a close scoreline but I think we could and should have won by more.” The boys are expecting to play at their absolute best tonight and are gearing up for a physical and high tempo game tonight. Emotions run high as the thought of the first playoff berth in 5+ years in dangled just in front of them.
