After going through a series of steps to reach this point, the Fossil Ridge High School football team will honor fallen military members leading up to and during Thursday’s game.
On Wednesday, there will be a pep rally at 6:30 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Amphitheater. There will be live music, a Patriot Guard and Honor Color Guard with a fallen hero remembrance beginning at 7 p.m.
Players will be introduced and they will say the name of the fallen soldier they are representing in Thursday’s game and a few will share the story of the soldier they are honoring.
Thursday’s game against Legacy kicks off at 6 p.m., with doors to French Field opening at 5. After the national anthem players will release balloons in honor of Anthony Parnell, a former player who was killed in February. He was enlisted in the Army before his death.
At halftime past and present military members will be honored. Anyone with a military identification will get into the game free.
The team will wear special uniforms for the military appreciation game and undershirts with the names of the fallen soldiers they are honoring.
In August the team went through military-style training and a ruck walk to educate the team so they could honor the fallen soldiers.
