On Tuesday, October 6th the Chartiers Valley boys soccer team faced off against the Canon-Mac Big Macs at Canon-Mac Stadium. The JV Colts beat the Canon-Mac JV team 2-0 in a very exciting and physical game. The referees made some extremely questionable calls throughout the game but the colts still came out with the win. The Varsity Colts beat the Canon-Mac Varsity team 3-2 in a thrilling match. Junior, Max Kehoe, scored ten minutes into the game giving us a 1-0 lead. shortly after Sophomore, Baxter Ekenrode, scored to give the colts a nice 2-0 lead. With twelve minutes left in the first half Canon-Mac scored to make the score 2-1 going into halftime. Almost half way through the 2nd half Junior ,Captain Sean Tinney, scored a goal off a beautiful cross giving the Colts a 3-1 lead. With thirteen minutes left in the game Canon-Mac scored making the score 3-2. Canon-Mac tried to get a goal that would tie and game and possibly sent it to overtime, but the Colts defense was just too good. Canon-Mac was incapable of creating any opportunities when they desperately needed a goal. The Colts held on to the lead and won the game 3-2. After the game Junior defender had this to say: “We played a great game and a well deserved win.” This was a must win game for the Colts and they got the result that they wanted. The Colts are now 4-4-0 in their section and are in fourth place. They are also 6-6-1 overall. The Colts can still get a spot in the playoffs, but they need a lot to go their way. They need to win their final two games against Brashear and Moon and Peters Township needs to lose two of their last three games. The team hopes for the odds to be in their favor.
