Full court reference held for Justice Sarmad Osmany, who laid down his robe on Monday
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has cautioned institutions against crossing their limits because such actions can hurt the cause of democracy and have a negative impact on public welfare.
The chief justice was addressing a full court reference on the retirement of Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany. The attorney general and top representatives of the bar also spoke on the occasion. The chief justice said the Constitution specifies the role of each institution therefore the judiciary, executive and legislature should work within their limits.
“A society makes progress and its people flourish when justice and rule of law prevail in it and all the state organs perform functions in accordance with constitution and legal framework”, he adds.

Justice Osmani, who had laid down his robe on Monday, advised the lawyers to discourage their clients from indulging in litigation which would not be fruitful as this would reduce burden of courts.“Now is the time to gather all our energies and direct them towards building our nation and country,” he said.
