The training focused on global legal framework against terrorism and relevant criminal justice response measures
National actions, coupled with international and regional cooperation are key elements in effectively addressing terrorism. UNODC Representative Cesar Guedes expressed these views at the six-day national workshop for judges, prosecutors and investigators the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) on Monday.
The training focused on global legal framework against terrorism and relevant criminal justice response measures.
The ability to successfully address global challenges lies on the capacity of national criminal justice systems to administer fair and effective justice for the perpetrators of terrorist crimes, he added.
“Terrorism has become a serious national and international challenge all over the world. This global issue has affected nearly every nation throughout the world directly or indirectly, thereby adding to the complexity faced by criminal justice practitioners,” he said.
Guedes said UNODC will ensure that the purpose of the workshop is achieved and national as well as international context is covered to ensure a better understanding of the subject.”
