Kishaun Bell had seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown and returned an interception 42 yards for a score, but it came in a loss as the Beacon High School football team fell to Yorktown, 34-19, on Saturday.
Cameron Shorey ran for 113 yards and John Janos completed 7 of 13 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs (1-4).
Defensive end Justin Warner had seven tackles, a sack and an interception, and Joe Ferrone made seven tackles.
“We fell behind early, but our kids made a charge in the third quarter and tried to come back,” Beacon coach Brian Mahon said. “We’re dealing with a lot of injuries and it was a rough week. But they fought hard.”
Arlington 44, White Plains 32 — Parrish Durham ran for three touchdowns and Rob Tannenbaum scored two touchdowns to lead host Arlington on Friday.
Justin Leigh ran for a touchdown as Arlington (3-3) snapped a three-game losing streak.
“It feels great,” Admirals coach Dominick DeMatteo said. “These last three weeks have been very difficult. It was a great homecoming crowd and the energy was exciting. I think the guys were more in tune, getting a positive vibe back and winning.”
John Jay 29, Mamaroneck 15 — Ryan Schumacher threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead visiting John Jay on Friday.
The quarterback threw a 71-yard touchdown to Jai’von Reynolds in the first quarter and found Logan O’Donnell for a 4-yard score in the third quarter. Schumacher also scored on a quarterback sneak in the second quarter. Bristol Smith scored on a 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Patriots (5-1).
John Jay awaits Sunday’s seeding announcement for the Section 1 Class AA qualifying round, which is Oct. 16-17. The 16-team round will determine the eight squads who will comprise the Section 1 Class AA tournament.
