CROZET — Grace Christian improved to 4-1 on the season Saturday, defeating the Hampton Roads Generals 27-18 in a football game played at Western Albemarle High School.
Gage Frazier threw a pair of touchdown passes to Austin Mayo while Andrew Kirkman accounted for the other scores on a pair of short runs.
Eli Marcellus added a trio of extra points.
After a scoreless first quarter, Kirkman scored the first of three touchdowns in that period on a 6-yard run.
Frazier connected with Mayo on passes of 4 and 32 yards for the other scores as the Warriors led 20-12 at halftime.
The Generals, who came into the game at 3-0, closed within 20-18 in the third period before the Warriors secured the victory on a 6-yard touchdown run by Kirkman in the final quarter.
Frazier was 10-for-18 passing for 150 yards and two scores.
Kirkman rushed for 84 yards and was credited with seven tackles. He also had 20 yards receiving.
Mayo had a combined total of 146 yards rushing and receiving plus eight tackles on defense.
“We’ve been off for two weeks, and the kids handled a lot of adversity during the game, but came out with the win,” Warrior coach Chris Haskins said.
