Huskies 10th at golf regional | USA Today High School Sports

The Port Huron Northern girls golf team’s season came to a close Thursday at the Division 1 regional at Davison Country Club.

The Huskies shot a 400 to finish 10th in the region. The top three teams – Rochester (317), Lake Orion (333) and Davison (335) – advanced to the state meet.

Megan Randolph led Northern with an 86, which was good for 16th overall, and six shots outside of the three individual qualifiers. Stoney Creek’s Lauren Ingle was the medalist, shooting a 72.

Cassidy Koschnitzke shot an 89 for the Huskies, while Margaret Smith shot a 109, Lanie Plater shot a 116 and Grace Mills shot a 121.

Division 2

Port Huron placed 11th in its regional at Heather Highlands in Holly. The Big Reds finished with a 435. Birmingham Seaholm won the tournament with a 328, followed by Grosse Pointe North (344) and Bloomfield Hills Marian (357). North’s Liz Gallagher was the medalist with a 75.

Sara Haynes led Port Huron with a 94, while Samantha Merritt shot a 104, Nina Kindle shot a 117, Angela Hensley shot a 120 and Jamie Smedley shot a 126.
