There are bizarre touchdowns, and then there’s the touchdown scored by Oakland Mills’ squad in Maryland, which you can see at the 0:53 mark of the video above.
After a quick screen pass from Oakland Mills quarterback Tre Hopkins to a wide receiver, the passer was wise enough to hang back and wait on the play to develop. As it turns out, he was right where he needed to be, as a designed quick screen was bogged down in a huge maelstrom in the middle, with the receiver eventually bold enough to lateral out the ball rugby style in Hopkins’ direction.
From there, it was all Hopkins scrambling for daylight and lining up behind a pair of major blocks down the sideline, leading to a unique and unexpected touchdown.
As it turns out, the wild touchdown wasn’t enough to earn Oakland Mills the win, with Howard eventually escaping the battle of unbeatens with a 29-22 victory. That result may have marred Oakland Mills’ season, but it certainly won’t dim the brilliance of this wild, unadvised and thrilling touchdown.
