Girls tennis roundup: Kalus leads New Paltz to win | USA Today High School Sports

Behind a win at first singles for Mikal Kalus over Dorothy Belton, the New Paltz High School girls tennis team swept host Poughkeepsie, 5-0, on Wednesday.

Kalus beat Belton, 6-0, 6-0. Alexandra Nicoles beat Jane Weaver at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Haleigh Mastro then defeated Adriana Powers, 6-0, 6-2. At first doubles, Olivia Profaci and Sophie Constable beat T’Ondra Walker and Brianna James, 6-2, 6-0. Madeline Finnegan and Grace Morrissey beat Luz Pena and Daniella Santos 6-4, 6-0.

Our Lady of Lourdes 5, Lakeland 2 — Dayna DiMarco picked up a win at first singles, 6-4, 6-0 to help lead the host Warriors. At second singles, Danielle Ogonowski won 6-2, 6-0 while Grace O’Connor won at third singles, 6-1, 6-0.

The first doubles tandem of Jenn Scully and Brianna Yi won 6-4, 6-0 while Sarah Sayegh and Mariette Sargio won at second doubles, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2.

Haldane 5, Beacon 0 — Allie Sharpley and Haley Traina defeated Emily Bautista and Megan Dowd, 0-6, 6-3, 10-8, at first doubles to lead visiting Haldane. Beacon falls to 3-5.

Beacon visits Pawling at 4:30 Friday.

Spackenkill 5, Ellenville 0 — Sarah McCall picked up a win at first singles, 6-0, 6-1 to help lead the visiting Spartans. Cynthia Ma won at second singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Rachel Li was victorious at third singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Charlotte Kate and Madison Myers won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles, and Kourtney Kowalski and Leona Lau won at second doubles, 6-0, 6-0.

North Salem 4, Pawling 1 — Martha Topolnitski won the lone match 6-0, 6-0 for the visiting Tigers.
