Allie Engel had 14 assists and 12 digs, while Maddi Barness tacked on four kills and two blocks. Lincoln returns to action Friday at the Fargo Tournament, while Brandon Valley faces Huron on Thursday.
Sioux Falls Christian def. Canton 25-14, 25-8, 25-7 in Canton – Eight aces from Kylee Van Egdom and two more from Ellie Voss highlighted a three-set win for the Chargers against the C-Hawks. Voss and Van Egdom also added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Shelby Zomermaand had 12 kills, and Amy Hurley had five digs. For Canton, Dellaney Bonin had a pair of kills. The C-Hawks (0-18) will head to Garretson on Thursday, while Sioux Falls Christian (12-1) will square off with O’Gorman.
Harrisburg def. Yankton 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19 in Harrisburg – Led by Karli O’Connor, who had four aces and 23 assists, Harrisburg managed to hold off Yankton in four sets. The Tigers (13-1, 11-1) picked up 17 kills from Sami Slaughter and another 23 assists from Avery Thorson. Slaughter also had five kills. Rachel Nelson led the match in digs with 35, while Madison Wassink added 14. Becky Frick notched 11 kils and Josie Sayler added four blocks for Yankton, which also received 16 digs from Holly Mines. Both teams are off until Oct. 13, when Yankton will face Brandon and Harrisburg will welcome Washington.
Huron def. Mitchell 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 in Canton – Mitchell stumbled against Huron, falling in three sets. Haley Burdick notched five kills and Ally Goldammer had a pair of blocks for the Kernels. Huron was paced by Sarah Carr (13 kills, nine aces) and Shannon Katz (three aces). Mitchell will face Aberdeen on Thursday, while Huron takes on Brandon Valley.
