The only change in the top 10 saw Episcopal Academy (Newtown Square, Pa.) jump one spot to No. 4 and switch places with Lakeland (Shrub Oak, N.Y.). Episcopal’s move was based on a 2-1 overtime victory against No. 6 Lower Dauphin in the final of Lower Dauphin’s Falcon Classic. EA won 3-2 in overtime strokes with senior back Corinne Kneizys posting the game-winning stroke.
Two new teams entered the Super 25 this week: No. 23 Unionville (Kennett Square, Pa.) and No. 25 Archbishop Spalding (Severn, Md.)
Unionville is led by one of the top players in the nation, sophomore Erin Matson. A recent North Carolina commit, Matson has been playing in the U.S. National Team program for years and continues to be a scoring machine. As a freshman, she had 38 goals and 27 assists.
Spalding has established itself as the top team in Maryland and is led by three Junior National Team players — senior Erin Shanahan (Virginia commit), junior Kyler Greenwalt (Maryland commit), and freshman Margot Lawn. Spalding is 7-0-1 after a 3-2 overtime victory against a very good Garrison Forest School.
