Three local golfers will be swinging away at the state tournament next Friday and Saturday.
After stellar performances in their respective regionals rounds, St. Clair sophomore Kara Likins, Armada sophomore Gabriella Locke and Capac senior Emma Kerr earned berths to the top stage.
Likins will be returning to the Division 3 state finals for the second year in a row after her 80 at Holly Meadows. Last year she carded a 194 after two rounds, which was 28 strokes outside of the top ten.
Locke will be heading to her first state finals, also shooting an 80 at Holly Meadows.
As a team, Armada placed seventh in the 11-team regional, also receiving a good score from senior Annie Stefomich (91). St. Clair shot a 485 to place 10th.
Kerr will be heading to her first Division 4 state final tournament after carding an 88 at Glenbrier Golf Course.
As a team, Capac placed ninth with a 459. The three teams advancing from the 14-team regional are Frankenmuth (376), Almont (387) and Freeland (392).
